Rubedo - Magnum Opus

The Rubedo is the final step of the Magnum Opus, the final fulfillment of the alchemical transmutations. After putrefaction and distillation, the sublimation of matter takes place through fire to create the philosofer's stone. The male and the female unite, as androgynus, or rebis, to create the son, the stone.

It's symbolized by the phoenix, the eclipse of the moon and the sun, the autumn, the androgynus, and the alchemical mercury.

It is the archetype of the self, at the height of the individualization process. The reunion of the ego with the self, in which even the unconscious, projected outside, is consciously reworked and opening up to love. Finally the ego manifests itself in its entirety.

Magnum Opus is a conceptual personal project where I want to rapresent the different phases of the creation of the philosoper's stone, with the influence of Jung, with a strong influence of Giger and Beksinski, two artist that influenced me a lot.
